Pitkin County Community Development 130 South Galena St. Aspen Co. 81611 Attn: Tami Kochen We are requesting a permit for the removal of dead cottonwood trees at 201 River Ridge Road in Woody Creek. The trees in question are six dead cottonwood trees with diameters between 8-14 inches. Five of the trees are leaning over understory spruce trees and leaning over the neighbor's fence. The sixth tree is leaning into a large healthy spruce tree along the river. Two other dead cottonwood trees have fallen in the area this summer causing some damage to the under story trees. We would like to remove these trees to avoid damage to other young trees growing in the area and to avoid any potential damage to the neighbor's property. I realize habitat is a concern along the river corridor. There would be over one hundred trees remaining on this property some of them are dead but in an area where they do not pose a threat to any structures or property. The remaining live trees have substantial dead limbs that will be left for habitat in the native area along the river. Please call or email with any questions you may have.
