COLORADO AMENDING THE NAME OF THE
TRANSLATOR ADVISORY BOARD TO THE
TELECOMMUNICATIONS ADVISORY BOARD
RESOLUTION NO. l7 /( , 2019
RECITALS:
I. Pursuant to Section 2.8.3 (Actions)of the Pitkin County Home Rule Charter
("HRC") official action by formal resolution shall he required for all actions of the
Boaid not requiring ordinance power on matters of significant importance affecting
citizens
2 'Hie Translator Advisory Board was created by the Board of County Commissioners
in 1980 to advise on matters related to the County's TV/FM Translator Services.
3. Translator Services are supported by a property tax, beginning in 1995 with the
passage of Referendum#I A. The purpose of the tax was to fund all costs related to
the continuance of the Pitkm County FM Radio and Television Translator System.
T. In 201i, Pitkin County Citizens were asked to expand use of the tax revenues foi
Translator Services to include Internet services, telecommunication services, and/or
cable television services.
5. At the recent Translator Advisory Board meeting on January 9. 2019,the Board
unanimously voted to revise the name of the Board to the Telecommunications
Ads isory Board. maintaining its TAB and better reflect the County services that
they advise,
6. All previous references to the Translator Advisory Boaid shall from this point on be
considered the Telecommunications Advisory Board.
7. The BOCC finds that it is in the best interests of the emzens of Pitkin Count) to
appro\e this Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Pitkin County,Colorado that it hereby adopts a RESOLUTION AMENDING; THE NAME
OF THE TRANSLATOR ADVISORY BOARD TO THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS
ADVISORY BOARD and authorizes the Chair to sign the Resolution and upon the
satisfaction of the County Attorney as to form, execute any other associated documents
necessary to complete this matter.
