RFTA recently adopted a policy, in Resolution 2002-27, regarding a phased conversion of its fleet to a greener, less petroleum-dependent transit fleet. Pitkin County's mission includes an appreciation of the environment and optimizing the quality of life for our citizens and visitors. RFTA's Policy supporting a phased approach to converting its fleet to alternative propulsion systems is consistent with Pitkin County's mission statement, because it balances the need to continue providing transit service to the Roaring Fork and Colorado River Valleys, while also providing for an eventual conversion of its fleet to the use of sustainable and renewal forms of energy. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO, that it fully supports RFTA's policy regarding conversion to a greener, less petroleum-dependent transit fleet.
