COLORADO AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF
SNORTIASS VILLAGE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO
ENFORCE COUNTY OPEN SPACE AND TRAILS
REGULATIONS
RESOLUTION NO.6 3 -2017
RECITALS:
I Pursuant to Section 2,5.3 IActions) of the Pitkin County Home Rule Chanel
("HRC")official action by formal resolution shall he required lot all actions of the
Board not requiring ordinance power on matters of signilicant importance affecting
citizens
2. Pitkin County Open Space and Trails Department has developed a successful ranger
program over the last several years to patrol its parks and open space and trails.
3. Trails owned and maintained by the Pitkin County Open Space and Trails
Department and those owned and maintained by the Town of Snowmass Village are
intertwined and, together form a continuous system which is a significant public
resource in the upper valley
4. The Pitkin County Open Space and Trails Department and the Town of Snowmass
Village are desirous of empowering the Town of Snowmass Village Police
Department, which includes Town of Snowmass Village Rangers with the authority
to enforce Pitkin County Open Spaces, Trails, and Nordic Trails Regulations
5 On April 6, 2017 the Pitkin County Open Space and Trails Board of Trustees
recommended that the BOCC approve this Resolution
6. The BOCC finds that it is in the best interests of the citizens of Pitkin County to
approve this Resolution
NOW, THEREFORE, BE 11 RESOLVED by the Board of Count} Commissioners of
Pitkin Count}, Colorado that Pitkin County authorizes the Town of Snowmass Village
Police Department to enforce use restrictions on County Open Spaces, Ti ails and Nordic
Trails, more specifically found in section 12 114 030, 12 114 060 and section 12 04 110 of
the Pitkin County Code
