COUNTY COLORADO, CONCERNING THE BALLOT ISSUE FOR THE BASALT
REGIONAL LIBRARY DISTRICT
Resolution #03-/~r~
1. The Board of County Commissioners received a presentation on August 12, 2003
from the Basalt Library District concerning the District's ballot questions for a mill
levy increase and the issuance of bonds for the November election.
2. The District requested that it wished to proceed under its own bonding authority and
submit the questions directly, rather than having the County proceed with County
bonding authority.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin
County, Colorado, does hereby:
I. Recognize the authority of Basalt Regional Library District to directly submit the
question of creating indebtedness of the District pursuant to recently enacted legislation
effective august 15, 2003, rather than requiring that the Board of County Commissioners
provide for the conduct of an election and the issue of bonded indebtedness on behalf of
the District;
2. Support the District's use of bond proceeds for the construction of a new library facility
in E1 Jebel; and
3. Urge the voters in the District to vote yes at the general election this November on the
mill levy increase and the issuance of the bonds
ADOPTED ON THE 13th DAY OF AUGUST 2003.
