AN ORDINANCE OFTIIE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO,
APPROVING ACQUISITION OF THE ANDREWS PARCEL
ORDINANCE # 01~- 03
RECITALS
1. The Pitkin County Open Space and Trails Board of Trustees is charged with the
responsibility of acquiring open space properties within Pitkin County, and
2. The Pitkin County Open Space and Trails Board of Trustees has designated
certain types of properties as priority acquisitions, with seenie lands, habitat lands
and recreational lands as priorities.
I 3. The Andrews Parcel, owned by Kenneth Andrews and consisting of
~... approximately 14 acres along the Crystal River west of Highway 133, is possessed
I of outstanding scenic and wildlife values, and includes a portion of a proposed
i' trail corridor for the Crystal River Valley.
4. The Property fronts llighway 133 and crosses the Crystal River, and will thereby
provide river access which is otherwise limited along the seenie byway.
5. The Property, which is bisected by Highway 133, could be developed in a manner
that would seriously degrade its scenic, wildlife and recreation values.
6. On December 5, 2002, the Open Space and Trails Board passed a motion
recommending the expenditure of up to $75,000 of Pitkin County OST funds for
the acquisition of the Property.
NOW TIIEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin
County, Colorado as follows:
1. The Board approves an expenditure of up to $75,000 for the purchase of the
approximately 14-acre Property.

2. The Chair is authorized to execute a contract for the purchase of the property
following approval of the form by the County Attorney's office and Open Space
Director, and is authorized to execute such other documents, as may be necessary to
finalize this transaction following approval of the form of those documents by the
County Attorney's office and Open Space Director.
3. That adjustments be made to the year 2003 budget as follows:
