RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (“BOCC”) OF
PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO, ENDORSING THE COLORADO RIVER
VALLEY FIELD OFFICE AND GRAND JUNCTION FIELD OFFICE
SUPPLEMENTAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STUDY (“EIS”) COMMENT
RESOLUTION NO. 079-2023
RECITALS
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 2.8.4 (Actions) of the Pitkin County Home Rule Charter
(“HRC”), all matters not required to be acted upon by ordinance or formal resolution may
be acted upon by informal resolution, and;
WHEREAS, The Colorado River Valley Field Office and Grand Junction Field Office is
undertaking a Supplemental Environmental Impact Study for its proposed Resource
Management Plan and accepting comments;
WHEREAS, Pitkin County has been heavily involved in efforts to protect the Thompson
Divide, a largely pristine area of high country situated west of Carbondale, from oil and gas
leasing for over a decade which would be regulated by the Resource Management Plan;
WHEREAS, Pitkin County seeks to provide a comment (Exhibit A) in that National
Environmental Policy Act process, and;
WHEREAS, The BOCC finds that it is in the best interests of the citizens of Pitkin County
to approve this Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Pitkin County, Colorado that it hereby adopts a Resolution Endorsing the Colorado River
Valley Field Office and Grand Junction Field Office Supplemental Environmental Impact
Study ("EIS") Comment and authorizes the Chair to sign the Resolution and upon the
satisfaction of the County Attorney as to form, execute any other associated documents
necessary to complete this matter.
INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED ON THE 1ST DAY OF NOVEMBER 2023.
