HomeMy WebLinkAbout06 June hrs minutes 2020Minutes – Healthy Rivers and Streams Citizens Advisory Board June 18, 2020 Page 1 HEALTHY RIVERS AND STREAMS CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD Meeting Minutes Via Zoom Virtual Meeting June 18, 2020 – 4:00 p.m. River Board members present: Bill Jochems, Chris Lemons, Chris Wheatley, Andre Wille, Chuck Ogilby, Wendy Huber River Board members absent: Lisa Tasker Others present: Lisa MacDonald, Matt Annabel __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Board Comment Chris Wheatley has floated through the Whitewater Park and enjoyed the waves. Public Comment – None Additions/Deletions to Agenda - None City of Glenwood Springs – Grant Update Three Mile Project – Trent Hyatt and Scott Schreiber A condition of the grant award to the City of Glenwood Springs for the Three Mile Project is to report to the Board at six-month intervals or as the Board sees fit. Mr. Hyatt and Mr. Schreiber joined the meeting to update the Board. They have held several public meetings at the site, outreach on-line and planning wrap up should happen within a few months. They will keep in contact with the Board as plans move forward. COVID-19 could affect the project. 10 Year Anniversary and New Normal Logos Diane Schwener SDG The Board reviewed the 10 year and new normal logos presented by Ms. Schwener. The Board expressed its thanks to Diane and the design team. Chairman Wille moved to approve both logos. Ms. Huber Seconded the motion. The motion passed 6/0. Streamside Improvements Whitewater Park – Bluegreen- Sheri Sanzone Ms. Sanzone presented a scaled down version of improvements at the whitewater park. Staff asked for a smaller version due to possible impacts to the budget from COVID-19. The Town of Basalt and the GoCo grant funding are still in place along with allocated budget from the River Board funds. The Board agreed to the scaled down version and was excited to hear that the enchantments should be happening this fall. Open Discussion Staff asked the Board to prepare for 2021 budget items and potential projects to include funds for such projects. An August 3, 2020 input deadline is in place. Potential projects need to be input by this time. Ms. Huber will look into a potential project and costs at the Satank bridge and beach with RFTA and Garfield County. Mr. Ogilby and Mr. Jochems will look into costs for telemetry work with the Town of Carbondale on the Weaver ditch. Mr. Ogilby expressed an interest in status of sewer plants and how efficient are they at keeping effluent out of the rivers. Are there tests? Can we test? Chairman Wille moved to adjourn the meeting.
