HEALTHY RIVERS AND STREAMS CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD Special Meeting 4:00PM May 5, 2022 Via Zoom 123 Emma Road, 2nd Floor, Basalt, CO 81621
River Board members present: Chris Wheatley, Chris Lemons, Bill Jochems, Chuck Ogilby
River Board members absent: Andre Wille, Wendy Huber, Kirstin Neff Others present: Lisa MacDonald, Lisa Tasker and Matt Annabel _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Colorado Rocky Mountain School Osprey Nesting Boxes Grant Request- Kayo Ogilby, 9th grade teacher, and students Ava Canova, Will Karow, Nina Villafranco, Evie Kelly, Ellis Hutchens, Campbell Habel, Henry O'Hagan, Spencer Mortell, Payten Jenrich, Taylor Rubinstein, Carol Hu, Katherine Stuart, Mick Olden, Isaac Schmidt This meeting occurred because a quorum was lacking specifically for this singular grant application in the regular grants meeting on April 21, 2022 as Chuck Ogilby recused himself from the request. In this special meeting the River Board heard a presentation by teacher Kayo Ogilby and his 9th grade class requesting funds for installation of 4 osprey nesting boxes and poles in collaboration with the private landowners and the Roaring Fork Audubon Society. The birds are reported to be challenged at finding new nesting sites and this effort is targeted specifically to help birds in the vicinity of Carbondale.
Chair Lemons moved to recommend funding for $4,800 for 4 osprey nesting boxes and 4 poles. Mr. Wheatley seconded the
motion. The motion passed 3/0. Mr. Obilby again recused himself. The Board adjourned at approximately 4:30pm. Approved: Attest:
