COLORADO, RECOGNIZING THE CLERK & RECORDER’S STAFF AND CITIZEN
ELECTION WORKERS ON A SUCCESSFUL AND SAFE 2024 GENERAL ELECTION
WHEREAS, The Clerk & Recorder is responsible for conducting primary, general and
coordinated elections; and
WHEREAS, The Election Division of the Pitkin County Clerk & Recorder’s office, is responsible for
providing voter service and accurately administering elections specializing in voter registration, database
management, issuance, receipt, inventory and processing of mail ballots and general customer service in
accordance with State Statutes, election rules and timelines; and
WHEREAS, The Election Division conducted three elections in 2024, culminating in the General Election
held on November 5th; and
WHEREAS, The staff in the Clerk & Recorder’s Office, and many citizen election workers, spent
countless hours to ensure that the 11,348 ballots cast for the General Election were processed safely and
efficiently; and
WHEREAS, The Election Division issued more over-the-counter ballots than ever, providing over 1,500
ballots to voters; and
WHEREAS, The team demonstrated resilience and resourcefulness, overcoming logistical challenges like
a vehicle breakdown during the transport of ballots amid inclement weather; and
WHEREAS, The Election Division expanded accessibility by hosting an advertised Saturday voter event,
and conducting outreach at the county jail, enfranchising eligible incarcerated individuals; and
WHEREAS, In a divisive national climate, the election team and bipartisan election judges upheld Pitkin
County values of ethics, excellence and collaboration; and
WHEREAS, After election day, additional staff hours were required to finalize the election process, which
concluded with a canvass of ballots on November 25, 2024; and
WHEREAS, The Clerk & Recorder staff assisted with the election processes and served the public with
real estate recordings, motor vehicle licenses and other tasks required for normal operations; and
NOW THEREFORE, The Board of County Commissioners and the people of Pitkin County, Colorado, are
honored to present this Proclamation to the Clerk & Recorder’s staff and the many citizen election workers
for conducting safe and secure elections and exemplary service to the citizens of Pitkin County.
