HomeMy WebLinkAbout05 May minutes 2019 HEALTHY RIVERS AND STREAMS CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD Meeting Minutes Joint Meeting with Pitkin County Open Space and Trails Board May 16, 2019 – 4:15 p.m. River Board members present: Bill Jochems, Lisa Tasker, Andre Wille, Ken Neubecker, Chris Lemons, Chris Wheatley River Board members absent: Kate Hudson Open Space and Trails members present: Wayne Ives, Amy Barrow, Graeme Means Open Space and Trails members absent: Michael Kinsley, Howie Mallory Others present: Lisa MacDonald, Gary Tennenbaum, John Ely, Laura Makar, Lindsey Utter, Liza Mitchell and Paul Holsinger, George Newman, Kelly McNicholas Kury Program Overview – Board members were introduced and gave short backgrounds on their involvement and reasons why they chose to serve. Discussion ensued regarding each Board’s mission, objectives and projects. Water Rights Assessment - Paul Holsinger A water rights portfolio assessment was present to the Boards by Mr. Holsinger. Staff was directed to pursue costs for the evaluation of county owned water rights assets including analyzing alternative use/application of water rights and any commensurate environmental benefits. The item will be brought back to both Boards to determine if it is valuable and how will it be used. What are the benefits, costs and should we pursue? The River Board continued the meeting with Open Discussion Items. Kelly McNicholas Kury introduced herself to the River Board. Ms. Kury is new the District 2 County Commissioner. Ms. Kury provided the Board with her areas of interest and concerns. Mr. Jochems Noted the Redstone project on some private property in Redstone is not Water rights discussions ensued with the Board. Ms. Tasker moved to adjourn. Chairman Wille seconded the motion. The motion passed 7/0. The Board adjourned at approximately 7:25 pm.
