Re- Cap of the Youth Water Summit - Sarah Johnson Wild Rose Education
Ms. Johnson updated the Board on the Youth Water Summit and showed a video. Discussions ensued regarding the
future of the program in 2018. Ms. Johnson will present the re-cap to the Pitkin County Commissioners and will
come back to the River Board for further discussion on the 2018 program.
Aquatic Nuisance Species – Mark Fuller, RWAPA
Mr. Fuller briefed the Board on funding issues for 2018 for the program. He thanked the Board for their support
and the additional funds received in 2017. Mr. Fuller will also present this information to the Board of County
Commissioners.
Whitewater Park update Streamside – Sheri Sanzone with Bluegreen shared several conceptual plans for
streamside designs at the whitewater park in Basalt. The Board reviewed the concepts and discussed options. A
stakeholder group will be coordinated consisting of groups that would have an interest in the park, such as
kayakers, birders, boaters and anglers.
Open Discussion -
Staff updated the Board on the upcoming whitewater park public input meetings. The meeting will take place on
November and the adjustments that will happen in-channel at the waves this winter.
