RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS (BOCC) OF PITKIN COUNTY,
COLORADO, APPROVING A MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH PROWERS COUNTY FOR
THE PURPOSE OF MANAGING AND ADMINISTERING
CALLS TO THE STATEWIDE CHILD WELFARE HOTLINE
REGARDING PERSONS THAT RESIDE IN PITKIN
COUNTY, COLORADO
RESOLUTION NO. 119-2024
RECITALS
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 2.8.3 (Actions) of the Pitkin County Home Rule Charter
(“HRC”) official action by formal resolution shall be required for all actions of the Board not requiring ordinance power on matters of significant importance affecting citizens, and;
WHEREAS, The Prowers County Hotline and County Connection Center MOU, agrees to answer and process Child Welfare related and Adult Protective Services related hotline
calls on behalf of Pitkin County.
WHEREAS, Pitkin County allocates $6,450.00 to cover the cost of screening all child and adult protection referrals. The Child Welfare Block allocation covers the cost of these services each year. These are approved based on appropriations from state funding. There’s
an increase of $539.00 compared to last year.
WHEREAS, This MOU is developed in partnership between Prowers County and Pitkin County, with confirmation by the State of Colorado (“State”), for Prowers County to manage and administer calls to the hotline regarding persons that reside in Pitkin County,
Colorado.
WHEREAS, Prowers County, through its Hotline County Connection Center (“HCCC”), agrees to answer and process Child Welfare (“CW”) related and APS related hotline calls on behalf of Pitkin County (“Call Coverage Services”). Prowers County will perform the
tasks outlined in this MOU as they relate to Call Coverage Services. Pitkin County will
perform the tasks identified in the MOU to assist the HCCC with successfully receiving the
Hotline calls so Pitkin County can complete the final disposition of each call.
WHEREAS, The BOCC finds that it is in the best interests of the citizens of Pitkin County to approve this Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Pitkin County, Colorado that it hereby adopts a Resolution of the Board of County
Commissioners (BOCC) Of Pitkin County, Colorado, Approving a Memorandum of Understanding
Resolution No. 119-2024
(MOU), Attached hereto as Exhibit A with Prowers County For the Purpose of Managing and Administering Calls to the Statewide Child Welfare Hotline Regarding Persons that Reside
in Pitkin County Colorado for the Citizens of of Pitkin County. and authorizes the Chair to sign
