HomeMy WebLinkAboutCORE LOS 3.21.25 (2) March 21, 2025 The Honorable Michael Bennet The Honorable John Hickenlooper United States Senate Washington, DC 20510 Dear Senator Bennet and Senator Hickenlooper: On behalf of the City of Aspen, Pitkin County, and Eagle County in Colorado, we submit this letter in support of the application of Community Office of Resource Efficiency (CORE) for funding from Congressionally Directed Spending for fiscal year 2026. CORE has a 30-year history of partnering with the City of Aspen, Pitkin County, and Eagle County to reduce our region’s impact on climate change through the reduction of GHGs from the built environment. In working with CORE, we have achieved success but there is more work to be done. To continue with this work, we must rapidly increase our energy efficiency and electrification efforts and build the necessary green workforce competency and capacity to do so. With CORE’s support, our region is poised to make transformative, sustainable, and measurable change through our collaborative efforts to reduce consumption, strengthen the renewable energy capacity, and ensure that the county’s citizens can participate in and benefit from carbon-cutting efforts. Sincerely, Kelly McNicholas Kury, Chair Pitkin County Board of Commissioners
