HomeMy WebLinkAboutbocc.res.035.1974 RESOLUTION BOARD OF PITKIN COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO No. 74-35 Re: Aspen Airways Radio Navigational Aid WHEREAS, representatives of Aspen Airways appeared at the Board of County Commissioners meeting on May 20, 1974 to present a proposal for the installation of a private radio navigational aid for its flights to and from Aspen, to be installed on land owned by Mrs. Walter Paepke, with her permission, and WHEREAS, the Pitkin County Airport Authority has recommended that the Board of County Commissioners give its approval and WHEREAS, Aspen Airways believes that with the installa- tion of its navigational aid. more of its flights will land and depart on schedule and it can therefore limit its passenger carriage to and from Aspen to 880 passengers landing and 880 departing in any one day, and WHEREAS, Aspen Airways would install the navigational aid by helicopter, would build no roads, and would service the navigational aid by persons on foot, or in the winter by snow- mobile; and would initially bury the last thirty to forty feet of utilities cable, and thereafter, if it proposed to continue use of the navigational aid, would bury all utilities cables by one year from its installation, and WHEREA~ the radio navigational aid as proposed by Aspen Airways can be used only by it and by no other commercial or private cariers or by private planes, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners approve the installation of the naviga- tional aid as proposed by Aspen Airways upon the following terms and conditions: 1. The navigational aid will be installed by heli- copter, no roads will be made, the cables will be buried as indicated above. 2. After the installation of the navigational aid and throughout the period of its use, Aspen Airways shall limit its flights to and from Aspen to a total of 880 passengers landing, and 880 passengers departing in any one day, such limitation to remain in effect unless permission to vary there- from is sought from the Airport Authority and this Board. 3. In the event that through changes in technology, private planes, other commercial carriers, and non-commercial carriers, or any of them, can use the radio navigational aid proposed to be used by Aspen Airways, no such use shall be permitted without Aspen Airways and the proposed new user having sought permission of the Airport Authority and of this Board.
