HomeMy WebLinkAboutIGA.consumer.protectionFIRST READING ON DRAFT RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN PITKIN COUNTY AND THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT FOR RENEWAL OF THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT (IGA) FOR CONSUMER PROTECTION SERVICES AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY REGULAR MEETING DATE: June 9, 2004 AGENDA ITEM TITLE: Renewal of Intergovernmental Contract for Consumer Protection with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) STAFF RESPONSIBLE: Carla Block, Senior Environmental Health Specialist DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE: Since the late 1960's, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Consumer Protection Division has contracted with Pitkin County to perform consumer protection services which include inspection of restaurants, schools, childcare facilities, and summer camps. Managing this program at a local level has proven to be very effective in efforts to maintain working relationships with the regulated community. The term of this contract shall commence July 1, 2004 and continue through June 30, 2005. The scope of work includes approximately 194 inspections. The contract states that 90% of the scope of work must be completed by the end of the contract term for an agreed reimbursement of $12,437.00. This amount of money has not changed from last year. A copy of the contract is on file in the Clerk and Recorder's office. RECOMMENDED BOCC ACTION: Approve resolution accepting the CDPHE annual contract and set for second reading. A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO, AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN PITKIN COUNTY AND THE COLORDAO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEATLH AND ENVIRONMENT FOR RENEWAL OF THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT (IGA) FOR CONSUMER PROTECTION SERVICES RESOLUTION NO. -2004 Recitals WHEREAS, Pitkin County and The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (the Governments) are duly constituted governmentall entities governed by Boards elected by qualified electors of the County and State mentioned above, all of which are located in Colorado; and WHEREAS, the Pitkin County Environmental Health Department agrees to provide services described in the IGA which shall include, but are not limited to: inspections of retail food establishments, schools, child care centers, and summer camps: inspections of mobile home parks, campgrounds, motels or hotels after a complaint is received: timely response to environmental health emergencies; and WHEREAS, the.State agrees to pay a sum not to exceed $12,437.00 considering services are provided in a satisfactory and timely manner. WHEREAS, the Board and Controller of the State of the respective Governments are authorized to execute this IGA on behalf of the Governments; and WHEREAS, the Governments have determined it is in the best interests of the citizens of Pitkin County to enter into this Agreement. NOWi THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County, Colorado, that it does hereby authorize the Chair to execute the attached Intergovernmental Agreement.
