Description:
PURPOSE: Reviews variance requests to building height and / or setbacks. The board grants
variances when strict application of the regulations would result in practical difficulties to, or undue
hardship on, the property owner due to the shape or physical features of the property.
AUTHORITY: The board will hear and decide appeals concerning any error in order, requirement,
decision or refusal made by an administrative official of agency in the enforcement of zoning
regulartions; requests for special exceptions/interpretation of zoning maps; grant variances when
because of exceptional practical difficulties, undue hardship, exceptional topographical conditions or
when the exceptional narrowness, shallowness or shape of a specific piece of property cannot comply
with the strict application of zoning regulations
