A RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL SUMS OF MONEY TO
DEFRAY EXPENSES IN EXCESS OF AMOUNTS BUDGETED FOR THE COUNTY
OF PITKIN, COLORADO
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners are con-
cerned about the loss of stream flow in the Roaring Fork
Valley because of various water diversions from the West
to the East slope drainages,
WHEREAS, the firm of Vranesh and Musick has been engaged
by the Board of County Commissioners to research Colorado
Water Rights in an attempt to prevent further diversion and
maintain adequate stream flow in the Roaring Fork Valley
at an estimated cost in 1974 of $20,000,
WHEREAS, this contingency was caused by the Federal
Bureau of Reclamation, Denver Water Board, and other state
and federal agencies beyond the control of the County
Commissioners,
WHEREAS, this contingency could not have reasonably
been foreseen at the time of adopting the 1974 budget of
Pitkin County,
WHEREAS, there is an unappropriated $20,000 in excess
Sales Tax Revenue,
NOW THEREFOHE BE IT RESOLI~D by the Board of County
Commissioners of the County of Pitkin, Colorado,
Section 1. That the 1974 appropriation for the Board
of County Commissioners Special Consultants is here-
by increased from nothing to $20,000.
Section 2. That the estimated revenue from the County
Sales Tax is increased from $538,000 to $558,000 to
be used for the aforementioned purpose.
