The Board of County Commissioners ("BOCC") has directed the preparation of
amendments to the Floodplain Regulations section 3-80-40 of the Pitkin County
Land Use Code (the "Code").
These amendments allow for the adoption of revised Flood Insurance Rate Maps
(FIRM) to replace certain FIRM maps adopted June 4 1987.
These amendments to Section 3-80-40 will bring said regulations into compliance
with current Federal Emergency Management Agency minimum National Flood
Insurance Program regulatory requirements.
The BOCC finds that the proposed amendments to the Code will substantially
advance the public health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Pitkin County and
be consistent with the intent of the Floodplain Regulations.
This ordinance is adopted as a regulation of general applicability for the health,
safety and welfare of the citizens of Pitkin County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Pitldn County Board of
Commissioners that it hereby amends the Pitkin County Land Use Code Section 3-80-40,
Floodplain Hazard Areas to include:
The areas of special flood hazard identified by the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) in a scientific and engineering report entitled "The
Floodplain Information Report; Roaring Fork River, November 14, 2001" Pitkin
County, Colorado Flood Insurance Rate Maps and Flood Boundary Floodway
Maps (FIRM and FBFM), to be effective October 19, 2004 and any amendments
or revisions thereto are hereby adopted by reference and declared to be a part of
this ordinance.
