HomeMy WebLinkAboutbocc.res.067.1975RESOLUTION WHEREAS, on thi~ Twenty-Second day of September, Nineteen Hundred and Seventy-Five, Pitkin County is honored to receive its designation as a CENTENNIAL-BICENTENNIAL COUNTY, and WHEREAS, this designation is appropriately made at the historical ASHCROFT townsite, and WHEREAS, it is through the efforts of the ASPEN HISTORICAL SOCIETY, the UNITED STATED FOREST SERVICE, and COUNTLESS CITIZENS who have become involved in this project ~hat the restoration of ASHCROFT has been possible, and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County to express the appreciation of the cormmunity to all persons who have been involved, and 'WI~EREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County have come to know personally of the outstanding contributions of time and effort of RAMONA MARKALUNAS toward the restoration of ASHCROFT, and WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that special recognition be extended to R t On{1 m{1RK{1LHH{I$ NOW THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PITKIN COUNTY HEREBY RESOLVE THE FOLLOWING: The grani!e mill base sh~ll be moved from its present site to an appropriate location in the ASHCROFT townsite in the Fall of 1975, by Pitkin County. An appropriate bronze plaque defining the A~HCROFT history be placed on the granite mill base with special recognition of the efforts of RAMONA MARKALUNAS; such plaque to be placed at a time of ceremony in the Spring of 1976, duly opening the historical site of ASHCROFT for the CENTENNIAL- BICENTENNIAL visitor season, and DONE THIS An amount up to $300 shall be appropriated from the Pitkin County Human Resource Budget for payment of said plaque. 22nd DAY OF SEPTEM~ER~ 1975 PITKIN COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Chairman ATTEST: CLERK AND RECORDER
