BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
RESOLUTION 75-~
WHEREAS, Dan McEachen has applied for Special Review
approval under the Pitkin County Zoning Code Section VI, for a
dog kennel to be located adjacent to the Snowmass Divide Parking
Lot south of West Village at Snowmass, and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on the 11th day of
November, 1974, at which time persons of interest expressed their
opinions concerning the application, and
WHEREAS, at such hearing Mr. Allan Whitaker of the Colo-
rado Department of Wildlife expressed concern over locating the
kennels in an area of elk and deer migration, and Mr. Stuart Mace
argued that the kennels would not significantly interfere with
elk and deer migration, and
WHEREAS, on November 18, 1974 a Special Review Permit
was issued to the Krabloonik Dog Sledding Kennels to operate until
July 30, 1974 subject to certain specific conditions and setting a
time not later than July, 1975 for an additional hearing to consider
the report of the Division of Wildlife or other agencies concerning
the effort of the kennels on the deer and elk migration routes
(Commissioner Resolution 74-100), and
WHEREAS, on June 9, 1975, a public hearing was held pursuant
to the November 8, 1974 permit conditions,for the kennel, and
WHEREAS, on July 7, 1975, at a continued meeting of the
June 9, 1975 public hearing, the Pitkin County Commissioners granted
a continuation of the Krabloonik Special Review Permit subject to the
same conditions of the Commissioners Resolution 74-100, with the
additional right of the applicant to renew his request upon the appoint-
ment of a third County Commissioner, and
SPECI~REVIEW
WHEREAS, on September 9, 1975, the applicant renewed his
request upon the appointment of the third Commissioner, Michael
Kinsley, and
WHEREAS, "no significant adverse effect" on the elk and
deer migration has been demonstrated during the course of hearings
on the Krabloonik Dog Kennels,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Pitkin County, Colorado, as follows:
Approval be granted for the dog kennel application
to operate until June, 1979, conciding with the
length of term of lease between Snwomass Corporation
and Dan McEachen for the kennel,
That the Colorado Division of Wildlife be requested
to continue monitoring deer and elk migration
patterns near the kennel area to determine the
effect of the kennels on the migration routes
and report annually to the Pitkin County
Commissioners concerning their findings,
That the road from the Snowmass Valley not be used
as access for the kennel operation,
That a parking area in the Snowmass Divide Parking
Lot be reserved for use of visitors to the kennel,
That all Pitkin County and Colorado State Health
laws be strictly adhered to, especially in regard to
proper removal and disposal of waste products from
the kennel area.
