Certification of Mill Levies

DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM:
Counties are responsible for the collection of all property tax. The Board of County Commissioners must
ratify the rates and amounts of property tax calculations for all districts within Pitkin County. It is the
responsibility of each taxing entity to conduct public heatings and calculate the mill levies according to
prevailing laws. Districts have until December 15th to complete these actions and the County has until
December 22nd to compile the information to be submitted to various State and local government agencies.
Due to the statutory deadline for submittals, staff will distribute the mill levy information to the Board on
Tuesday, December 20th. Copies will also be available on Tuesday at the Clerk and Recorder's Office for
public inspection.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Certify the attached mill levies.
