RE-ASSIGN BOUNDARIES OF TWO POLLING PLACES
RESOLUTION NO. O I~ -2006

1. PEkin County currently maintains ten established precincts throughout the county.
2. Per C.R.S. 1-5-103 (1)'(a) ... changes in boundaries of precincts or the creation of new precincts
for partisan elections must be completed no later than 29 days prior to Caucus Day. The 2006
Caucus Day is scheduled on March 21, 2006.
3. Pitkin County Clerk and Recorder requests to re-assign the boundaries of the current polling
place for all Aspen Airport Business Center (AABC) & surrounding area residents from Precinct
5, the Schultz Health & Human Services Building, to Precinct 7, Colorado Mountain College.
4. Residents residing at the AABC and surrounding area are required to vote at Precinct 5, the
Schuitz Health and Human Services Building, and cont'nue to express a desire to vote at
Precinct 7, Colorado Mountain College, due to the convenience of the polling place location.
5. By re-assigning boundaries for these two precincts, the following benefits will be enacted:
· Residents in the area, as stated above, will experience more convenient opportunity to
vote due to polling place location. Travel is within one-half mile to Precinct 7, Colorado
Mountain College, versus approximately three miles to Precinct 5, the SchUltz Health and
Human Services Building.
· Voting attendance could improve due to polling place close proximity to voter residences
and qonvenience.
· Traffic to and from the Schultz Health andHuman Services Building and the Aspen
Airport Business Center could decrease on election days.
· By re-assigning boundaries at this time, the potential registered voter count in Precinct 5
will decrease from 1,717 to 1,371, and the potential registered voter count in Precinct 7
will increase from 995 to 1,341. (Approximately 346 registered voters) With the
completion of Burlingame development, voter registration in Precinct 5 will increase in the
near future.
· Notification by postcard prior to Caucus Day on Mamh 21, 2006 will be forwarded to all
affected registered voters regarding the ia-assignment of boundaries and Precinct.
· All Districts remain the.same; e.g., Commissioner, School, etc.
Attached please find the following supporting documentation: · Attachment A: 2006 Precinct Totals, Registered Voters
· Attachment B: Re-Assigned Boundaries Map (Parcels Transfer to Precinct 7)
A list of all registered voters, with addresses, affected by the re-assigned boundaries is available for
inspection at the Clerk and Recorders Office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County,
Colorado, that the following streets be re-assigned from Precinct 5 to Precinct 7 for Caucus Day on
March 21, 2006 and all subsequent elections:
1. 100 AABC; 200 AABC; 300 AABC; 400 AABC
2. Animal Shelter Road
3. East Airport Road
4. Front Way
5. Mediterranean Avenue
6. Narrow Way
7. Pacific Avenue
8. Passgo Lane
9. Pitkin Park Place
10. Radar Road
11. Riverdown Ddve
12. Sage Way
13. Sardy Field Road
14. Service Center Road
15. Totterdown
16. Tumbledown Lane
17. Woodward Lane
