Confirmatory Reading on Emergency Resolution Setting
Salaries for Elected Officials Other than the Board of
County Commissioners

DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE: In March, the Board of County Commissioners adopted an
emergency resolution, copy attached, that set the salaries of the other elected County
officials. Section 2.8.4.3 of the Pitkin County Home Rule Charter requires that a
confirmatory reading of the emergency resolution occur at a public meeting with advance
public notice. The purpose of the confirmatory reading and public meeting is to either
rescind or reaffirm the action taken by the emergency resolution.
RECOMMENDED BOCC ACTION: Reaffirm the resolution.

AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO,
SETTING SALARIES FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS
OTHER THAN THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Resolution # 2006
RECITALS
1. The Home Rule Charter, Article II, Section 2.7.4., establishes that the Board of
County Commissioners shall set the salaries of the other elected County officials no later
than the date for the precinct caucuses as established by State statute.
2. Precinct caucuses will be held on March 21, 2006.
3. The Home Rule Charter states: "The salaries of such elected officials shall not be
varied during their term of office, except that the Board may increase their salaries annually
by a cost-of-living multiple (a) if such multiple is made applicable to County employees
generally, or (b) if such multiple does not exceed five (5%) percent.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners
of Pitkin County approves the salaries of other elected County officials to be effective upon
the elected official term beginning in 2007 as follows:
