HomeMy WebLinkAboutbocc.res.092.1976 d d 12 53 P M No iber 5, 1976 Julie liane, Recore Rectlr e at :. .. , Reception Number: 188705 PITKIN COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Resolution #76~ SOOK319 i'fIGt.144 Ii I' Ii CONCERNING PROPERTY OBTAINED BY THE COUNTY BY TREASURER'S DEED WHEREAS, Pitkin County has obtained certain parcels of real estate situate within the County by conveyance to the County by Treasurer's Deed, and WHEREAS, it is the policy of the County to preserve such real estate for present or future projects to promote the public health, public welfare and conservation of natural resources, and WHEREAS, 80% of the lands within Pitkin County are within the boundaries of the White River National Forest which includes the Snowmass- Maroon Bells Wilderness area, and WHEREAS, the economy of Pitkin County in recent years has developed primarily as a resort and recreation center with heavy usage of the forest lands for such purposes including but not limited to camping, hiking, skiing, horseback riding, and similar uses, and WHEREAS, most of the lands acquired by Pitkin County at tax sales are mining claims and enclaves within the national forest, and WHEREAS, developments within the national forest lands and upon other properties held by the County under tax deeds would interfere with the recreation and resort uses to which such lands are now being applied and would impair the economy of the area and would be a financial burden upon the County and the other special districts situate therein to provide services to any such developments, and !j il :1 ;/ [, II !I 1/ BOOK319 p^ct.145 - WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has determined that it is in the interest of public health, safety, welfare, etc. that such prop- erties be retained and used for public parks, open space and general re- creation uses, and WHEREAS, those parcels belonging to the County by Treasurer's Deed have demonstrated a clear public benefit in the provisions of quality outdoor recreation and wilderness experience. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: 1. That those parcels of real estate belonging to the County by Treasurer's Deed are determined, pursuant to 39-11-143(4)(b) C.R.S. 1973, to be useful and necessary for present public open space and parks and re- creation and that such lands, buildings and structures are suitable for and intended for use as public property for public purposes, and are suitable for and intended for use in the promotion of the public health, welfare, and for conservation of natural resources. 2. That the County, having made the determination in (1) above, and I' !! That the County may, by subsequent resolution, choose from time to time to exempt certain parcels or lots from the coverage of this Resolution and offer same for sale. 4. The Assessor, Treasurer, and County Attorney are directed by the Board to update, at least once a year, the list of lands belonging to Pitkin County, and to report to the Board at least once a year on the - status of County lands held under this Resolution.
