Note: .All required land use approvals must be obtained prior to submittal. of an earthmoving
permit application. Applications with outstanding land use reviews will be rejected in"the Zoning
Office and returned to the Building Department. If you are unsure as to whether a review is
needed, please contact the Zoning Office at 920-5090.

I. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING
[ ] You aze responsible for the information contained in the attached Earthmovin~ Permit
Requirements handout.
[ ] State law (Senate Bill 93-15~) requires that you contact the Utility Notification Center of
Colorado, at (800) 922-1987, before commencing any earthmoving.
[ ] Work in a wetlands area is generally prohibited: however, some activities are permitted.
You are required to obtain a permit from the Army Corp of Engineers. Please call (303)
243-1199.
{ ] You will be required to post a Bond with the Building Department for revegetation if
your project:
a) Has a potential to impact watershed areas (riparian or streams; etc.).
b) Has a potential for visual impacts from public viewing corridors (Roads, County
Parks, Trails).
c) Has steep (15 0 or greater) slopes or unstable soils.
d) Disturbs large azeas (To be determined by the Land Management Department.)
[ ] If bonding is required, a revegetation plan including the following items, MUST be
~bmitted.
a) Plant Material List (BE SPECIFIC -scientific names aze required).
b) Planting schedule. This is a commitment by the applicant that the work will be
- performed by a certain date. The bond will be released after the vegetation has
been successfully established.
[ ] Most projects require a Fugitive Dust Control Plan. If you aze unsure whether you need
to submit a dust plan, please call the Environmental Health Department. at 920-5070.
[ ] Proposed ponds will require an impoundment permit by the State Water Engineer.
[ ] Permit applications not approved within six months of submittal will be voided.

RE: RIO GRANDE TRAIL PROJECT- PITKIN COUNTY OPEN SPACE & TRAILS
Please find attached an earthmoving permit application for the above referenced project. The project is
contained to the Pitkin County portion of the Rio Grande right of way. It starts at the end of the existing
trail at Old Snowmass and continues along the R.O.W. to the Woody Creek Tavern. A second section of
trail will be built from E. Sopris Rd. to the Basalt High School Along the R.O.W. Please contact me or
Project Manager Temple Glassier. Our start date is May 16;2000.
The contract addresses revegetation and dust control, as well as adjacent wetlands. Please advise if you
need more info as soon as possible.
