Dear Mr. Balm,
Your building permit application #1281, for a temporary structure
to be built on the above referenced lot, has been received by the
Zoning Office for review. Unfortunately, we are unable to
approve these plans.
Your proposed structure, a small shed to operate as a storage/
construction office prior to and during the construction of your
home; is considered an "accessory" structure. According to the
Pitkin County Land Use Code, an accessory structure is not
permitted on a site until a principal structure is in place. The
Code, however, does permit a construction trailer to .be located
on a site for a one year period while construction is underway.
A permit for such a trailer may be obtained at the issuance of a
building permit for your primary structure.
In the meantime, ,your building plans and permit application
#1281, has been rejected by the Zoning Office and has been
returned to the Building Department. Please contact the Building
Office at your earliest convenience to make arrangements for
these plans.
