HomeMy WebLinkAboutbocc.min.reg.08161971 r~ MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PITKIN COUNTY August 16, 1971 -- - PRESENT: Commissioners Sardy, Baxter, Vagneur, County Attorney Oates and Internal Auditor Kleeman. Stuart Mace was present to inform the Board that he was interested in purchasing a book cutter which the County now has. The Board in- formed Mr. Mace that a public notice requesting bids on the book cutter would have to be made and at that time he could submit his bid. Mr. Mace also made a request for a 20 M.P.H. speed limit at Ashcroft. Attorney Oates was instructed to check into this matter. John Schmidt was present to discuss the straightening of the bridge curve on the Snow- mass Creek road. The Commissioners asked the Road Overseer, Harvey Hale to check out the problem. Mr. Schmidt also asked that the Watkins Divide road be improved. The Board informed Mr. Schmidt that they would consider the im- provements. -- Mr. Ron Duplanty of Aspen International Properties was present to discuss the Juniper subdivision at Aspen Wildcat. Upon motion duly made and seconded the Board approved the sub- division, with the provision that the sales contracts for the property clearly describes the lack of water in the area. The followin letter was submitted by Mr. Duplanty: "As part of your approval pro- vision for the Juniper Plat it may be noted AIPI commits to include the attached paragraph in all sales agreements. - 1 - ...._~..__.- ......-' .,.,~....,.,., "'~""'~-'-'-~"""""~"~~'.~""""'-""'- .gust 16, 1971 COMMISSIONERS MINUTES , "- The insertion is intended to give the buyer an understanding of the water service conditions in the Juniper area. Buyer acknowledges that he under- stands the property is within the boundaries of the Aspen Wildcat Basin Water and Sanitation District, but that said District is not able to pro vide service at this time and is not able to make a commitment as to a date when it will be able to provide service. Buyer further acknowledges that he understands that Pitkin County will not issue a building permit for construction of any improvements on the property until the Buyer can dem- onstrate to the appropriate officials of Pitkin County that there is avail- able to the property a dependable supply of water which meets county standards of potability. Buyer fur- ther acknowledges that he has been advised that Pitkin County assums no responsibility for nor makes any commitments with respect to water supply." Mr. George Nelson of Tri-Co Development requested permission to extend the road from their development at the Hospital. The Board approved Mr. Nelson's request. Harry Wier, Hospital Administrator and Rose Stanton, Chairman of the Hospital Board requested an additional two mill levy for the hospital. The Commissioners deferred a decis- ion pending discussion with the R.S.A. Board. Mr. Pagni was present to request a burn- ing permit for two acres of scrub oak on West Sopris Creek near Emma. The Board informed Mr. Pagni that they would contact City-County Sanitarian Kinkade for his recommendation. - 2 - "---- .... - - - -- - - - August 16, 1971 COMMISSIONERS MINUTES -~ Jim O'Neil from Oshkosh Truck and Ed Kalvar from Farris Machines were present and made a presentation on the virtues of their product, snow plow.
