The line from the house to the tank is cast iron and has deteriorated to some extent. This repair makes sense to occur within the scope of the remodel, prior to Certificate of Occupancy (CO). An inlet tee must also be affixed at the time of this repair. Additionally, the tank was Y2 full of liquid at the time of the inspection. Possible explanations include evaporation which means the tank could be structurally sound and functioning properly, or groundwater infiltration or a leaking tank which would indicate the tank that is not functioning properly. This may be verified once water is available on the property to conduct the test. If it is determined that the system is working properly, documentation from a licensed systems inspector must be submitted to this department prior to CO. If the tank needs to be replaced, an OWTS Construction Permit must be obtained. The absorption area appears to be working properly; however, there was snow cover present at the time of the inspection. Inspector Recommendations: The inspector has recommended line and tank replacement. Department Recommendations: This department recommends making appropriate repairs during the course of the remodel and all repairs and testing must be confirmed by this department prior to CO. An effluent filter is also recommended on the outlet tee. Issuance of this OWTS Use Permit is based solely on the conditions observed and reported by the Inspector to the Department on the date of the Inspection(s) and on Department records at the time of permitting. The Issuance of this permit does not constitute a guarantee, warranty, orrepresentation by the Department th th system will operate properly or will not foil or that the system will not be subject to future enforcement action to correct non -compliant conditions. Estimated capacity of the system has been listed on the permit and we recommend that you monitor and /or meter water use to prevent overuse and possible failure. ow LOVE'S HIW, INC. 215 WEST MEADOUS DRIVE GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO 81601 (970) 384 -3940 ORDER INFORMATION TO OBTAIN A STATUS OF YOUR ORDER VISIT WWW.LOWES.COM /STATUS AFTER BEING NOTIFIED THAT THE PICKUP LATER ORDER IS AVAILABLE, PLEASE COME TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DESK TO PICK UP THE MERCHANDISE. - SOS SALE - SALES 1: 51905KS1 1435221 11 -09 -11 86560 VCMT4254 730.76 CASEMENT WINDOW 384.62 DISCOUNT EACH -19.23 2 D 365.39 [PICK UP LATER] PO 1: 126357387 INVOICE 78339 SUBTOTAL: 730.78 INVOICE 78339 SUBTOTAL: 730.78 INVOICE 01932 SUBTOTAL: 0.00 SUBTOTAL: 730.78 TAX: 74.75 BALANCE DUE: 805.53 LAR: 805.53 TOTAL DISCOUNT: 38.46 LAR:XXXXXXXXXXXX6768 ANOUNT:805.53 AUTHCO:001795 KEYED REFID:803909597 11/09/11 20:38:43 ACCOUNT NAME: GREGORY P RICKER AUTH BUYER: RICKER GREG ACCOUNT VILL BE BILLED UPON MERCHANDISE TRANSACTION DATE FOR STOCK MERCHANDISE AND NO LATER THAN 90 DAYS FROM TRANSACTION DATE FOR SOS OR DIRECT DELIVERY MERCHANDISE. This code is intended to provide flexibility to permit the use of innovative approaches and techniques to achieve the effective use of energy. This code is not intended to abridge safety, health or environmental requirements contained in other applicable codes or ordinances. 101.4 Applicability. Where, in any specific case, different sec- tions of this code specify different materials, methods of con- struction or other requirements, the most restrictive shall govern. Where there is a conflict between a general require- ment and a specific requirement, the specific requirement shall govern. 101.4.1 Existing buildings. Except as specified in this chapter, this code shall not be used to require the removal, alteration or abandonment of, nor prevent the continued use and maintenance of, an existing building or building system lawfully in existence at the time of adoption of this code. 101.4.2 Historic buildings. Any building or structure that is listed in the State or National Register of Historic Places; designated as a historic property under local or state desig- nation law or survey; certified as a contributing resource with a National Register listed or locally designated historic district; or with an opinion or certification that the property is eligible to be listed on the National or State Registers of Historic Places either individually or as a contributing building to a historic district by the State Historic Preserva- tion Officer or the Keeper of the National Register of His- toric Places, are exempt from this code. 101.4.3 Additions, alterations, renovations or repairs. Additions, alterations, renovations or repairs to an existing building, building system or portion thereof shall conform to the provisions of this code as they relate to new construc- tion without requiring the unaltered portion (s) of the exist- ing building or building system to comply with this code. Additions, alterations, renovations or repairs shall not cre- ate an unsafe or hazardous condition or overload existing building systems. An addition shall be deemed to comply with this code if the addition alone complies or if the exist- Ing building and addition comply with this code as a single building. Box 1945 Eagle, CO 81631 Re: 15 Katydid Lane site visit on August 19, 2009 Dear Chris and Amy Pates: Thank you for allowing us to visit 15 Katydid. In response to complaints from the Little Elk Creek Homeowners Association I visited the site with Bill Harding, Fire Marshal for the Basalt Fire Protection District. The purpose was to ascertain if the vacant building posed a fire or safety hazard. Observations: The building appeared to be structurally sound and weather tight. Doors and windows were intact and lockable. All'combustibles have been removed from the house except for some materials left piled in the sun 'room in the southwest corner of the house. There was no sign of intrusion into the building. Electricity was turnerd off but the- meter was still in place. Weeds have been allowed to grow in close proximity to the house. We inspected the building according to the provisions of Sec 115 of the 2003 International Building Code and Sec 311 of the 2003 International Fire Code. According to these codes this building would not be considered a fire or safety hazard if the following measures were taken: 1) Remove the combustible materials from the SW comer area; 2) Remove the electric meter or otherwise verify that power has been adequately disconnected; 3) Keep the weeds trimmed down within at least 15 feet of the building. 4) Keep doors and windows securely locked. Please make the above corrections before October 1, 2009 in order to bring the building in compliance. Please notify me before September 1, 2009 if these terms are agreeable to you. Call me if you have questions or comments. Amy, I'm sorry you were not able to join us on Wednesday. I look forward to hearing from you.
