Sterling Baxter; Commissioners T. S. Sardy and Clyde Vagneur; County Administrator Terry McAnnany; Peggy E. Miklich, Clerk; Carrol Whitmire, Pitkin County Sheriff was present and submitted to the Board his manpower request above the amount budgeted for 1971 for an additional secretary, jailer and deputy for a grand sum of $21,728.00. After discussing this request in detail with the Sheriff the salary appears to be $485.00 for one secretary, $600.00 for one jailer and $725.00 per month for one deputy; it was determined that the Sheriff had omitted the additional FICA and Blue Cross costs to the County for this budget request, increasing it to a sum of $23,640.00. Upon motion duly made and seconded the Sheriff's request was approved beginning December 17, 1970 and is to be reviewed on a monthly basis for application and consistent deed. Sheriff Whitmire discussed with the Board the jail and the possible relocation of his office and re- lated facilities to the downstairs portion of the Court House and the close proximity to the jail. This matter was again tabled by the Com- missioners until further consideration could be given to the new annex. There being no further business this meeting was adjourned.
