HomeMy WebLinkAboutbocc.min.reg.07081968----------- _ ` _ __ July 8 , 1968` The Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County, Colorado, met at 10:00 o'clock AM, July 8, 1968, with the following members present: Chairman T. J. Sardy; Commissioners Orest A. Gerbaz; J. Sterling Baxter and Robert Delaney, County Attorney; Peggy E. Coble, County Clerk. Pursuant to Notice published as required by law, The Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County met as a Board of Equalization on July 8, 1968 at the Commissioners Room, Court House, Aspen, Colorado, commencing at the hour of 10.00 o'clock in the forenoon during the day of July 8, 1968. No persons appeared to protest assessments or otherwise demanded equalization changes. On the same date, the Commissioners also met as a Board of County Commissioners. Pursuant to complaint about the use of cyanide guns in the control of predatory animals, the Commissioners directed the County Attorney to write a letter to the Colorado Game, Fish and OPi' Parks Department requesting their aid and assistance in discourag- ~~ '~~ ing use of such cyanide guns in urban areas, or areas where a heavy concentration of persons may be expected. ---- - -- The Commissioners again discussed budgetary matters with Sheriff Carrol Whitmire. The Commissioners made an additional inspection trip to the Aspen Airport, examined the land now owned by the County at the xrlL~~. f Airport, and discussed and considered in detail the potential require- ments of the County for Airport expansion and other County needs, and thereupon on Motion duly made and seconded, directed Chairman, T. J. Sardy to enter into negotiations with Mr. J. V. Spachner and the Trustees of the Paepcke Life Insurance Trust, looking to the purchase of approximately twenty-seven acres of land located between the present Airport property and Colorado Highway 82.
